MUNDRA's Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone Ltd (APSEZ) has overtaken Mumbai's Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust (JNPT) up 18 per cent to 5.65 million TEU in FY2021, reports Swarajya.

JNPT handled 4.67 million TEU with a decline of 7.04 per cent in FY20. The Port of Mundra handled 144.4 million tonnes of cargo in FY21.

APSEZ Ltd acquired a 31.5 per cent stake in Gangavaram Port Limited (GPL) in March 2021. It's located in the northern part of Andhra Pradesh next to Vizag Port.

APSEZ also increased its stake in Krishnapatnam Port to 100 per cent making it the country's second-largest private-sector port after Mundra.

APSEZ's port holdings make up 24 per cent of India's port capacity, making it India's largest port developer and operator.

The company operates 12 ports and terminals across India including Mundra, Dahej, Tuna and Hazira in Gujarat, Dhamra in Odisha, Mormugao in Goa, Visakhapatnam and Krishnapatnam in Andhra Pradesh, Dighi in Maharashtra and Kattupalli and Ennore in Chennai.
