Release time: 2019-07-31   Browsing:849次

THE US Federal Maritime Commission met its competition regulator counterparts from China and the European Union on Wednesday to discuss myriad market factors impacting the world's three biggest container shipping lanes.
The Fourth Global Regulatory Summit, which was held at the FMC's headquarters in Washington, DC, also included discussions on industry trends, operational and business practices of carriers and updates on changes to regulations and laws governing container shipping.
"The Federal Maritime Commission is dedicated to ensuring competition and integrity for America's ocean supply chain. I believe that my counterparts from the European Union and the People's Republic of China share the desire for a similar outcome for all countries and all global trade lanes," said FMC chairman Michael Khouri in a statement.
No further details regarding the meeting were released by the FMC, reports American Shipper.
In addition to Mr Khouri, FMC Commissioners Rebecca Dye, Daniel Maffei and Louis Sola were also in attendance.
The EU delegation was led by the Directorate General for Competition Henrik Morch. Yi Jiyong, deputy director-general for China's Ministry of Transportation, Water Transport Bureau, led the China delegation.
The FMC held the first Global Regulatory Summit in December 2013. The second meeting was held in Brussels in 2015, while the third meeting was held in Beijing in 2017. The three parties plan to hold the Fifth Global Regulatory Summit in Brussels in 2021.
