At around 8:40 am on September 16th, a serious mechanical failure occurred on a quay crane at Yantian Port in Shenzhen while preparing for operation. The boom of the quay crane collapsed and hit the "MSC Riona" container ship parked at berth, causing the suspension of operations at berth 2. At present, there are no casualties, but multiple containers have collapsed and fallen into the water.

After the accident, the corresponding emergency plan was immediately activated, and the overall situation on site was controllable. As of now, the MSC Riona is still anchored at Yantian Port, and it is expected that the subsequent shipping schedule will be severely delayed. Recently, there have been cargo loaded onto the ship by the shipper and freight forwarder.
