According to reports, Maersk Line has issued a warning that disruptions in container shipping through the Red Sea are expected to continue until the second half of this year, resulting in severe delays and backlogs for goods being shipped to the United States.
The report indicates that following attacks on vessels by Houthi militants, major global container shipping companies have abandoned their routes through the Red Sea and the Suez Canal, opting instead for the longer route around the Cape of Good Hope in Africa.
In a statement from Maersk Line, it was mentioned, "Be prepared for the situation in the Red Sea to persist into the second half of this year, and take into account the longer transit times in supply chain planning."
